Mike Jones
You asked for a little history. So here goes. I got off of the Parsons
and out of the Navy in Sept. of 74 as an FTM2. I came back to my home town of
Lubbock TX. I started with Texas Instruments in '75 and worked for them for 23
years. T.I. decided to shut down the Lubbock site in '98. A company called X-FAB
bought the site, so we just turned our hats around and continued. So, for the
last 25 years I have been working in the same building making semiconductors. I
have gone from an equipment repair tech, to engineering, to my present position
of chemical services coordinator. It has been a really good career.
I didn't get married until '81. I was still trying to drink all the beer
there was and didn't have time to get married. I got two stepdaughters in the
deal. They are grown and mostly out of our hair (that's a joke, I'm bald as
hell). The joy of my life now are my two grandaughters ages 8 and 2. I don't
drink much beer anymore either.
In '85 at age 35 I decided to get healthy, so I started working out. I
trained in karate for 7-8 years and got a black belt. I was too old and slow and
kept getting my butt kicked at tournaments, so I quit karate and just kept up
with the gym. My big hobby and money pit for the last 8-9 years has been drag
racing. I have the fastest car in the area and the emptiest checking account.
There are some pictures of me and my car on our track website. Check it out at http://www.raceidalou.com/.
Go to super pro in racer specs and find my name. As you can tell, drag racing is
my passion now. I figure when I get too old for that I will sell all my stuff
and buy an airplane.
Well, enough for now. I will send my dues in the next couple of days.
keep me posted and take care of yourself.
