A Sailor's Life

By: Unknown
Courtesy of William M. Howard

A life blood and sweat and strain
On stormy seas and sleeting rain

Sleepless nights and bitter cold, and
Memories of home that never grow old

All this and much more, is a sailors life in
Days of peace and days of strife

Little is known of the life they live, for
Their country, their lives, they
Willingly give

There are times when their bodies and
Souls are weary
When the days are so sad and dark and dreary

How welcome then is news from home,
When very often their thoughts will roam

God bless them all, our sailors so true, who
Gladly fight for the red, white and blue.
