Beginning to End
At the tenth reunion of the USS
Forrest Royal DD-872 in June 2010, there was one (1) individual, James
Fulton a Signalman, who Commission the Forrest Royal and three (3) who
decommission her, Richard Berke a Boatswain Mate,
Thomas Moore a Fire Control Technician, and
Reginald Williams a Boiler Technician.

The crew present enjoyed visiting Battle
Ship Cove and touring the USS Joseph P Kennedy Jr (DD-850).
It brought back lots of memories from when we all serving on the
Forrest Royal. Since the
Joseph Kennedy was the same class and frame style as the Royal, it
allowed everyone to talk about where they slept and worked.
A few members brought family members to the reunion.
The Kennedy allowed them to show family members how they lived
and where they worked during their tour aboard the Forrest Royal.
The Forrest Royal was commission on June 29, 1946 and decommission on
March 27, 1971 in Mayport, FL.
She was transferred to the government of Turkey and renamed TCG Adatepe
(D-353). The Adatepe was
scrapped in 1993. |
