1942-1943
We now have full
color profiles for the Dorsey
Class (DMS-1)(see above) and
Chandler (DMS-9) Class (see
below) destroyers as converted
to fast minesweepers. We will
have additional modifications
including those converted to
fast transports APD and small
seaplane tenders AVD in future
newspapers.
Specifications
for the Dorsey (DMS-1) Class and
Chandler (DMS-9) Class were
taken from Ship’s Data U.S.
Naval Vessels, 15 April 1945,
Vol. II. Although very similar
in detail and armament there
were differences between some
ships. DMS-1 is shown here. Your
order will be checked for the
correct arrangement.
Displacement: 1,600 tons
(trial). Dimensions: 314'-5"
overall, 31'-4" beam, 13'-4"
max. draft. Speed 32.5 knots
(trial). Armament: four 3-in./50
cal. guns, five single 20mm.
guns, and two depth charge
