Gearing Class DDR
A total of twenty-eight Gearing-class ships served in two DDR configurations.
Shown above is USS Hanson (DDR-832) in an early DDR configuration. The list of
available ships is below.
Some Gearing-class ships were converted to radar picket ships from 1944 until
they were upgraded to a DDR II configuration in 1952. From 1944 until mid-1946
they were painted a two-tone navy blue/haze gray with small hull numbers (not
available), and all haze gray with large hull numbers thereafter (pictured
above).
