Mitscher (DL-2) pre-FRAM configuration 1966 Color Profiles

     Specifications for this configuration were taken from NWIP 11-20, Missions and Characteristics of U.S. Navy Ships and Aircraft (applicable date/revision). The pre-FRAM configuration is represented by the Willis A. Lee (DL-4). USS Willis A. Lee (DL-4), Mitscher-Class destroyer leader. Displacement: 3,675 tons standard, 4,758 tons full load. Dimensions: 493'-0" overall, 50'-0" beam, 26'-0" max. draft. Machinery: 80,000 SHP, four boilers @ 1,200 psi/950 deg. F, two geared turbines, two shafts/propellers, designed speed 36.5 knots, sustained speed 34.2 knots, range 5,000 nautical mines at 20 knots. Complement: 24 officers and 345 enlisted. Armament: two single 5-inch/54 cal. MK 42 gun mounts, two twin 3-inch/70 cal. MK 37 gun mounts, one MK 108 (Weapon Alfa) ASW rocket launcher, four single 21-inch MK 24 torpedo tubes. Fire control: one MK 67 GFCS/MK 25 radar (5-in.), one MK 56 GFCS/MK 35 radar (dual), one MK 64 GFCS- GUNAR (3-in.), and MK 102 UFCS/SQS-26 bow mounted (DL-4 and DL-5) and QHB/SOG-1 (DL-2 and DL-3) sonar. Radar: SPS-10 surface search/navigational, and  SPS-29 (DL-2 and DL-3) and SPS-37 (DL-4 and DL-5) air search, SPS–8 height-finding, and TACAN at mainmast.
