Richard "Wheels" Slominski, QM1/c.
Served on Mayo:4 November 1943- 2 February 1946
Dick came aboard Mayo right after the Salerno invasion , and participated in the Anzio Operations and Surrender of the Japanese at Tokyo Bay. "Wheels" is a avid Mayo Association member, participating in the newsletter, shipmate correspondence and searching, and hosting great Mayo reunions with his wife, Alfreda, and granddaughter, Christina Bass.



Aime Pinard, QMC.
Served on Mayo:27 December 1941 to 29 May 1945
Aime was a integral part of the Mayo crew through her days in convoy duty in the North Atlantic, invasion support in Italy, and into the Pacific theater. Here Aime is pictured with his wife, Sammie. (Photo sent in by shipmate,Ed Bailey)


Edward Bailey, Jr, RM2/c.
Served on Mayo:February 1941- 8 April 1944.
Ed served on Mayo through the dangers of North Atlantic convoy duty to the Mayo's participation in the Invasion of Europe. Ed was one of the Mayo's newspaper publishers and cartoonists, creating the popular Mayo Mike character. Now Rev. Ed Bailey, Ed is a major participant in the Mayo Association, being our Spiritual Advisor and overseer of our Memorial services.


Donald "DC" Clark, BM1/c.
Served on Mayo:18 September 1940 to 26 November 1942.
"DC" Clark is a plank owner and member of Mayo's deck gang throughout her early days in the North Atlantic. He avidly remembers those early convoy events such as " ..the ship leaned over so far I thought I could touch the water!". "DC" is a member of the Mayo Association.


Harry "Chunky" Latier, TM1/c.
Served on Mayo:21 October 1942 to 1 November 1945.
"Chunky" was aboard Mayo during her escapades in the Invasion of Italy and travelled through the vast Pacific with Mayo through 1945. Harry is well remembered at our reunions and in our newsletter.
