Robert Morales was the former president of the USS Sierra (AD-18) Veteran’s Association and has completed a diorama in 1/700 scale depicting the USS Sierra secured to her berth in Pearl Harbor with nine destroyers tied up alongside. He started with a photograph from a former WWII member dated 9/21-22, 1944 as a starting point. Another member had a copy of the Sierra deck log which contained the names and hull numbers of the ships tied up alongside. With that information he was able to obtain photographs from various sources to construct each ship and paint them in their assigned camouflage patterns for that period. The Sierra and two of the destroyers are made from resin kits while the remaining ships are made from plastic kits. The project took him approximately two years to complete.

Left to Right: USS REID (DD-369), USS HUNT (DD-674), USS LEWIS HANCOCK (DD-675), USS SIERRA (AD-18)--Moored Bow to Stern to buoys at Pearl Harbor, USS STEMBEL (DD-644), USS ERBEN (DD-631, USS HALE (DD-642), USS MacDONOUGH (DD-351), USS TERRY (DD-513), USS WADSWORTH (DD-516)
