The photos below were given to Clarence Kooistro by the Associated Press. They are of the USS FRANKLIN (CV-13) taken on March 19, 1945 after being hit by bombs from a Japanese plane. He was aboard the USS Miller, which pumped water on the fires for 48 hours.
