USS Stribling (DD-867) in the mid-50's. This photo was given to C.O. K.W. Simmons by the C.O. of the USS Ticonderoga, W.A. Schoech, during a period when the two ships were operating together. This picture is particularly unique because of the trainable hedgehogs mounted on mount 52. They were an experimental weapon installed during a Charleston Naval Shipyard period December 1954-March 1955. They did not particularly pan out and were removed sometime later.
