Allen M. Sumner (DD-692) Class as converted to high-speed minelayers

Specifications for this configuration of the Sumners were taken from Ships’ Data U.S. Naval Vessels, Vol. 1, 15 April 1945. Displacement: 2,882 tons (trial). Dimensions: 376'-6" overall, 40'-10" beam, 18'10"max draft. Speed: 34.2 knots (trial). Armament: three twin 5-in./38 cal. gun mounts, two quadruple 40mm gun mounts, two twin 40mm gun mounts, ten single 20mm gun mounts, up to 120 mines, two depth charge release tracks (for 600 lb. charges), and two port and starboard single K-Gun depth charge projectors (for 300 lb. charges). Radar: one SC air search radar set and one SG surface search radar set. Fire Control: one MK 37 GFCS with MK 12/22 radar. Sonar: one QGA sonar set. Complement: 21 officers and 342 enlisted
