USS BOYD DD-544

NEWSLETTER

September 19, 2001

Dear Boyd Shipmates,

After having such a wonderful time in Annapolis we are all saddened by what has happened in New York and Washington DC. But we will move on and continue our efforts to reunite the veterans that served on the USS Boyd.

Our reunion in Annapolis was a success and everyone had a great time. For me the most memorable moment was meeting everyone that attended. I was able to meet some of my close shipmates that I had not seen in about 35 years, and some I met for the very first time. But no matter how long it had been, it was a wonderful experience. It was great seeing everyone.

We also got to visit the Naval Academy, which was a great experience for me. We were told that it was the largest group of visitors that had ever visited the academy at one time.

We also made tentative plans to meet again in 2002. Our plan at this point is to meet in San Diego, CA in October of 2002. More information will come later.

I wish to thank all who attended the reunion in Annapolis, which included 26 shipmates and 22 guests. It took a great effort on everyone's part to make this a great success. I especially want to thank Jerry Stutzman and Kim Neumann for all their help. We could not have made it without them.
