Tour #1 (cont) Bus loads at downtown Newport drop off point and continues
to Ft. Adams, built in 1824 and used until 1950. The third Fort at this
site, it's the largest in the country for gun placement and 2nd in size to
Ft. Monroe, Va. The first fort here was dirt with cannon and used against
the British in 1775. The 2nd fort was used for the War of
1812 and was a supply and training base for the Spanish-American and
Mexican Wars. Final part of tour will be a ride around Ocean Drive to view
some of the summer homes of the "Exclusive 400." |

The bus will then return to the Hampton Inn Fall River/Westport, arriving around
3:00 PM. |

Tour #2 Bus departs for New Bedford harbor for 9:30 departure on fast
ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Ferry travel time is 1 hour. Lunch on
your own. Lots to do on Martha's Vineyard, such as:
• Tour bus (2 1/2 hour
ride) available on the island for $29.
• Local bus for
the day $6. Take it to Edgartown, spend an hour or two, hop on the bus to
Vineyard Haven, Oak
Bluff, Aquinnah, etc. |

Ferry departs from Martha's Vineyard to Mainland. Miss
ferry and you stay for the night. |

Bus loads from ferry and returns to the
Hampton Inn Fall River, arriving around 6:45 PM.

Tour #3 Bus departs for the New Bedford to National Whaling Historical
Park. All streets are cobblestone - bring your sneakers. Lunch on
your own. Lots to do in the Park (http://www.nps.gov/nebe), such
as:

Whaling museum - admission $9 (seniors)
• Seaman's Bethel Church built in 1832, has a ship's bow
for a pulpit and stone tablets
listing
the
names of seamen lost at sea since the 1840's (donations accepted)
• 19th century whaling merchant's house and garden
museum - admission $4 (seniors)
• Working waterfront with lots of restaurants |

point and continues to Battleship Cove in Fall River for Memorial service
and optional Battleship Cove tour - admission $12
If staying for the optional Battleship Cove tour, return to hotel when you
