The USS Kidd (DD-661) Museum in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is in need of some expertise. Ship Superintendent Tim NesSmith is trying to find a Gunner’s Mate or two that lives within driving distance of Baton Rouge that has experience on 5″/38’s; specifically the hydraulic ram for loading the projectile and powder and the ammo hoist that moves the projectiles up from handling room to the gun itself. They need a consultant who can provide some technical expertise in getting one of each of these operable again before March.
Contact Tim NesSmith at the Kidd museum at (225) 342-1942.
