SAVE THE DATE! The Tin Can Sailors 2024 National Reunion Will Be Held In Exciting, Historic New Orleans From Sept. 8th-12th. More Information Coming Soon, Check Our Facebook Page For Future Announcements.

Volunteering on a Museum Ship can be fun for the whole family whether it is in the form of Field Day work repairing and restoring or in administrative services or as docents and greeters.

Each of the ships has its own unique needs that those with some free time who are interested can check out. These pages show some of the volunteer work being done and list information for each ship, including location, visiting days and times, volunteer programs, and articles about some of the volunteer efforts. Even if you don’t have the time to spend with a paintbrush in your hand you will enjoy seeing the photos and stories of the volunteers who do so much to help maintain these ships for future generations to see.

Types of Volunteers:

  1. Ship Volunteer
  2. Group Volunteer at Headquarters (for ex. in the Library)
  3. Distributive Volunteers (perform research)
