Highlights

Except for one rainy day visiting Patriots Point (good to be inside the Yorktown and the Laffey) sunny skies allowed us to enjoy two more days of activities around Charleston: a downtown tour along with the Citadel and their chapel, a harbor tour, the submarine Hunley museum and the North Charleston Fire Museum.

We came to share special memories and to honor deceased shipmates, especially EN3 Phillip Murphy (Vietnam 1972-1973), whose family members attended. First time attendees were YN2 Tony Olanio, QM3 Tim Garrett, ETR2 Tom Webb (all three Vietnam 1972-1973), ETN2/ETC-ret Bob Senn (Vietnam 1966), STG2 Bob Kaiser, and LTjg/Capt-ret Fred Spruell (1962 Cuban Missile Crisis). CO/Capt-ret Pete Peterson, wife Robyn, and brother-in-law James Burgess from Australia and our many shipmates, wives and friends got to enjoy Paul Keplinger’s magnificent displays of Kraus memorabilia.

Our banquet dinner allowed us to share additional memories with our special friends.
