For train buffs and others visiting Rochelle, Illinois and its famous Railroad Park and Diamond Crossing, another place there worth a visit is the Roberts Armory WWII Museum which includes a display of a 1945 Higgins LVCP landing craft. Although the museum is open only six times a year (see http://www.robertsarmory.com for schedule and a full description of exhibits) they are able to open the museum to visitors by appointment. To see the restoration progress of the LCVP see http://www.robertsarmory.com/Higgins-Boat.htm.
