USS DYESS ASSOCIATION (DD-880)

Highlights

Scenic and historic Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, was the meeting place for this year’s reunion of the USS Dyess. Our first evening together we shared dinner at the Black Powder Tavern where the food and atmodphere were great. On Thursday, our tour day, we started at the Battleship New Jersey with very knowledgable escorts providing tours. We continued on a tour of Philadelphia with Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. This bus tour provided an expansive view of the many museums, parks and historic buildings. Friday was our “free” day and many took the opportunity to visit George Washington’s headquarters and Valley Forge Park. The business meeting was Saturday followed by the very lucrative annual auction. As our festivities culminated in our banquet Saturday evening we were all treated to a magic presentation by one of the shipmates. Sunday morning arrived too soon and it was time for the goodbyes until next year when we meet in Mystic, Connecticut.
