A reunion of the Wardroom of the USS Gurke was held at Embassy Suites, San Diego on April 24th thru 26th. Officers in attendance served in the lates 50’s and early 60’s. Those in attendance were; Jim and Anna Elliot, Jon and Dorothy Fox, Will and Linda Gassett, Earle and Dorothy Hale, Alan and Kathy Haugner, Bill and Aileen Miller, Corky Nason, Bob and Ann Rennard, Allen and Ellen Ruth and Bill Wible. A banquet was held Friday night at Jaynes Gastropub with a special menu to celebrate “The Snake Survivors Reunion”. On Saturday we toured the USS Essex, LHD-2. It was a great experience although a little tiring for old folks to walk and climb from Level 2 to Level 07 and back. Saturday night we had a wonderful seafood dinner at The Fish Market. The next reunion will be spring 2017.
