Highlights
All shipmates arrive on Sunday, 15 October. For most of them it was the second time they came to New Orleans since 2012. It was also the 2nd time we stayed at the Royal St. Charles. Predictably, on Monday, we toured the WWII Museum for most of the day. On Tuesday and Wednesday we toured New Orleans on buses from which we hopped on and hopped off. It was 15 stops and most of us used the buses on Tuesday and Wednesday. A few walking tours were included, and, for an additional charge, we had a cemetery tour. Monday and Tuesday evenings all of us had dinners at two excellent restaurants. Our Farewell Banquet included a number of guests including the New Orleans Police Chief, Randy Fandal, and his wife. A good time was had be all including a son whose father served aboard the Huse in WWII as a Chief Petty Officer.
