Highlights
USS Power DD-839 23rd reunion started off with a welcome aboard buffet and a cake cutting ceremony with first shipmate to board the ship and the last shipmate to leave the ship. We had over 50 door prizes to raffle off. We also had bingo for the ladies. The following days we had tours of the Gateway Arch, Missouri History Museum, Boeing Prologue Room, Soldiers Memorial Military Museum and Missouri History Museum. We had our lunches both days at River City Casino and Lumiere Casino which was a good idea as they offer good food at a reasonable price. Our farewell dinner started with the Cleveland Jr. Naval Academy performing the Color Guard Duties followed by the Two Bell Ceremony. After dinner we were entertained by song and dance man Ron Camron who kept up intrigued with stories and songs of the Rat Pack, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and many others. The hotel had the best plated dinner of beef, chicken, and salmon that we have ever tasted. Our hotel service was excellent including dining, hotel rooms, hospitality rooms and a good breakfast each morning. Next years reunion will be May 18-22, 2020 in Charleston, South Carolina.
