Highlights

On Tuesday, driving our own cars, we visited Gettysburg National Military Park, watched the movie, took the guided bus tour of the battlefield and then went in to see the Cyclorama painting painted in the late 1880s by Paul Philippoteaux, who, with his assistants, took more than a year painting on canvas the battle of Gettysburg, resulting in an oil painting that measured more than 377 feet in circumference and 42 feet high. Wednesday we took a tour of Amish country and shopped at a couple of their stores. Then guided tour of Pennsylvania Railroad Museum followed by a ride on the beautifully restored, coal burning steam trail at Strasburg Railroad. Thursday toured Fort Hunter and Mansion House along the Susquehanna River. Then toured the Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. It was a great place to have a reunion. The hotel had a restaurant with breakfast buffet, plus a couple more restaurants within walking distance. We did not use bus tours because of the small attendance and using our own cars worked out perfectly.
